A text scam that borrows a casino’s name works because it lands on a phone that really does hold a casino account. The message is built to make you act before you think, so the fix is a short routine you run every time: read, do not tap, check, save, report. This page walks through the four causes most such texts fall into and what to do with each.

The offences behind these messages are written into RA 10175, and the full page on RA 10175 sets out the sections and the NBI route in detail.

The text scam that says you won and asks for a fee

A prize text claims you have been picked, then asks for a processing fee, tax or “release” payment before it will release the money. The prize is the bait and the fee is the whole point of the message.

Problem

A text says you won a prize and must pay a fee first.

Fix

Do not reply and do not pay. A real win is credited inside the game you played, so open the game’s menu and look for its history or round record instead. The steps are on the game history page.

A spam text with a shortened or odd-looking link wants you to land on a page that copies a lobby’s login. The page records whatever you type. Under RA 10175, Section 4(b)(1) computer-related forgery and Section 4(b)(2) computer-related fraud describe this pattern.

Problem

A message links to a login page you do not recognize.

Fix

Close the message without tapping. Type the address yourself: typing jili365.com into your browser forwards you to the lobby, and the address bar then shows a numbered address that changes from visit to visit, so a changing number is normal and the text’s link is not the way in.

Vishing: a caller follows the text up

Vishing is the same scam by voice. The text arrives first, then a call from someone claiming to be a casino agent, a bank or an agency who needs a code “to cancel the transaction”.

Problem

A caller quotes the text and asks you to read out a code.

Fix

Hang up. A one-time code exists to prove it is you, so reading it out hands your account over. Ring the service back using a number you found yourself, or use the contact route listed on the customer service page from the lobby you reach by typing the address.

The text threatens a tax or account closure

Some messages claim your winnings are taxed, frozen or about to be reported unless you pay or confirm your details within hours. The deadline is there to stop you checking.

Problem

A message says a tax on your winnings must be paid now through a link.

Fix

Do not use the link or pay through the message. Read how winnings are treated on the tax on winnings page, and take any real tax question to the BIR through its own site.

Save the evidence and report it

Whatever the cause, the evidence you save decides whether a report can be acted on.

  1. Screenshot the message with the sender number and time visible.
  2. Copy the link as text into a note. Do not open it.
  3. Write down the amount, date and method if you already paid, and tell your bank or wallet at once.
  4. Block the sender after you have saved everything.
  5. Report to the NBI or the PNP cybercrime unit. The NBI’s contact page lists its hotline as (02) 8523-8231, as read from nbi.gov.ph.

Still not working?

You already tapped, replied or paid, and the usual steps feel too late. Work through the fix below, then read the PAGCOR regulations overview for who regulates what, so a complaint about a casino’s conduct goes to the right body.

Problem

You tapped a link or read out a code before you saw the signs.

Fix

Change the password on the account and on every account that shares it. Tell your bank or wallet provider straight away, then report with the evidence you saved.

FAQ

How do I know a casino text is a scam?

Look for urgency, a link to an address you do not recognize, a prize you never entered for, or any request for a password, a one-time code or a fee. A real message from a service you use does not need your password. Open the lobby by typing the address yourself rather than using the link.

What is vishing?

Vishing is voice phishing: a phone call, often following a text, in which the caller pretends to be a casino, a bank or an agency and pressures you to read out a code or move money. Hang up and ring back using a number you found yourself.

Where do I report a scam text?

RA 10175 names the NBI and the PNP as the bodies that enforce it, and the NBI's own contact page lists its hotline as (02) 8523-8231. Take the PNP and CICC reporting routes from their own sites, pnp.gov.ph and cicc.gov.ph.
