Game testing is the step that happens before a slot or table game reaches a lobby: an outside laboratory examines the game’s maths, its random number generation and its software, and the studio gets a certificate for the version tested. PAGCOR’s Responsible Gaming Code makes this part of the rules, as the PAGCOR regulations pillar explains. This page shows who the testers are, what a certificate covers and how you look for one yourself.
Who does game testing
Three layers sit between a studio and your screen, and the table lists what each says about itself.
| Layer | What it does | Source |
|---|---|---|
| PAGCOR | Requires machines to be certified by international testing laboratories and game manuals to be approved by PAGCOR | Responsible Gaming Code, Part V |
| PAGCOR EGLD | Evaluates and approves electronic gaming platforms and the games offered; publishes a list of approved electronic games | PAGCOR EGLD page |
| Testing laboratory | Examines and certifies the game | The lab’s own site |
The EGLD list names studios such as CQ9, JDB, JILI, FA CHAI and Evolution. A listing there is approval of game content for operators PAGCOR licenses, and it does not make a studio an operator.
What BMM Testlabs and GLI say they test
BMM Testlabs describes itself as the longest-established and most experienced private independent gaming test laboratory in the world, serving the gaming industry for over 40 years. Its site lists product testing, product certification, mathematics, quality assurance and iGaming among its services.
Gaming Laboratories International lists pre-certification, quality and performance testing, gaming software quality assurance and testing, game mathematics and percentage return to player analysis, and security auditing and vulnerability analysis. Both labs are named by the studios carried on this site: the studio records list GLI and BMM Testlabs for JILI, and one or both for PG Soft, Pragmatic Play, Evolution, FA CHAI, JDB and CQ9 (the studio profiles on the game providers hub show each).
Find a game’s certificate in four steps
- Open the game’s info or help screen and note the studio name and game name.
- Open that studio’s profile on this site and read the certifiers it lists.
- Open the lab’s own site and the studio’s own site, and look for the certification pages or a certificate request route.
- If you find none, ask the lobby’s customer service which lab certified that title and for the certificate reference.
A certificate request that never gets answered tells you something; keep the thread.
Rigged games: what a certificate shows
People say a slot is rigged when a session runs cold, and that feeling is what the maths predicts will sometimes happen. A certificate covers the version the lab tested: the random number generation, the declared return and the software. It does not forecast your session, and a short run of losses is not evidence of tampering.
JILI publishes no RTP, so there is no studio figure for a certificate to be checked against; the RTP meaning behind a published figure page explains what that figure is for the studios that do publish one.
You think a round was unfair and want to challenge it.
Open your own record first, because reading your own game history shows the round, the stake and the result. Screenshot it, then send it to customer service with the game name and ask which lab certified that title.
A message offers a game fix or a free certificate check if you send details.
Ignore it, because nothing about a certificate needs your login or ID. Read how a casino text scam works and delete the message.
